HUNTLEY HOME LISTED FOR $675,000 AFTER OWNERS DISCOVER BACKYARD POOL CAN APPARENTLY BE USED AS CURRENCY

HUNTLEY, IL — Local economic officials confirmed Thursday that a 2005 suburban house has been placed on the market for $675,000, following the groundbreaking discovery that installing a saltwater pool and several yards of stamped concrete can transform an ordinary McHenry County residence into a minor sovereign wealth fund.

The 4-bedroom, 3-bath home, which sold for $400,000 in 2020, reportedly achieved its new valuation through an advanced financial instrument known as “BACKYARD RESORT DESIGNED FOR ENTERTAINING AND STAYCATIONS.”

“Obviously you’re not paying nearly seven hundred grand for vinyl siding in Huntley,” said one area economist. “You’re paying for the concept of Tuscany, as expressed through a pergola next to a chlorine generator.”

The listing emphasizes that the property features a floor-to-ceiling stone fireplace, plantation shutters, double ovens, solid-wood doors, a 3½-car garage, and a “custom shed for storing pool toys,” which experts believe is the first known shed to contribute approximately $85,000 in market capitalization.

At an estimated $5,217 per month, buyers will enjoy the rare privilege of spending luxury-resort money while remaining within a 12-minute drive of several excellent opportunities to purchase mulch.

The property also carries approximately $11,405 in annual taxes, allowing homeowners to experience the authentic Illinois tradition of paying a second mortgage for the continued existence of their own driveway.

Real estate analysts were particularly impressed by the home’s Walk Score of 11, noting that residents can technically walk anywhere they want, provided they have packed emergency rations and informed next of kin.

“People keep saying, ‘But it has a finished basement,’” said one prospective buyer, staring silently at a mortgage calculator. “Yeah. For $675,000, I would certainly hope the basement has completed whatever journey of personal growth it was on.”

The home last sold for $600,000 in 2023, meaning the current owners are seeking another $75,000 just three years later, reportedly because the roof is newer and the pool valves have continued bravely existing.

At press time, Zillow had encouraged shoppers who found the price unreasonable to consider a nearby 5-bedroom, 4-bath, 4,593-square-foot house listed for $624,900, before quietly backing out of the room and allowing everyone to process that information.
